LOCATION
The River Mountain Action Rafting Camp is located in Ponderosa R.V. Resort, a beautiful private membership campground just West of Marshall State Park, and within walking distance of Sutter’s Mill, the site where gold was discovered in1848, starting the California Gold Rush. Do plan to visit the “Gold Strike” Museum in Coloma.

CAMPSITES
Having originated the “Comfort Camping” concept for river rafting camps in 1979, River Mountain Action has maintained its superiority by continually upgrading the camp that our Guests enjoy. Our full 3½ acres with it’s abundance of shade trees was totally reconfigured in 1999 to provide over twenty separate, individually illuminated, level sleeping areas. This permits us to offer excellent accommodations for groups of two through thirty guests. Larger groups utilize multiple sites as necessary.

THE FACILITIES
Each of our camping areas are adjacent to our free hot showers and bathroom facilities with flushing toilets, running water and electrical outlets for hair dryers, razors etc. Hair Dryers? Some guests like to get “fixed up” for an evening at the “Coloma Club”, a Country Western bar within easy walking distance from our camp. A Rock ‘n Roll Band is featured on Saturday nights during the rafting season. The dance floor is popular, as is the beer garden behind the club. Plan on just shorts, shirts and tennies for the Coloma Club.

COMFORT CAMPING
To ensure a good nights sleep, River Mountain Action has since 1982 provided at no charge, a thick foam pad to go under YOUR sleeping bag. Many guests enjoy sleeping under the stars - it is part of the delight of being out in the country. RMA does have a limited number of small "Two Person DOUBLE OCCUPANCY" dome tents available for our guests to use at no charge. Tents for single occupancy are available for rent at $15 for the two nights. Guests may bring their own modest sized tents if they wish. Motorhomes up to 24' can be accommodated on all two day trips. There is no size restriction on motorhomes on two day Midweek trips.

SLIDE SHOW PRESENTATION
On Saturday nights our guests enjoy recapturing the excitement of the day watching a slide show of pictures taken only hours before. You may review the pictures on our light tables to select and order prints in a variety of sizes to be delivered by mail.

CUSTOM PHOTOGRAPHY
Most guests wish to purchase a photograph or two of their rafting adventure. We have arranged for licensed professional camera crews to photograph each RMA raft as it negotiates some of the larger rapids on the river. On midweek trips the photo company processes the pictures and has them ready for viewing across the street within just a few hours. Guests may place an order for 8 x 10 or larger pictures to come by mail.
