DO I HAVE TO BE PART OF A GROUP?
No, we welcome individuals, couples & small or larger groups. To book as an individual, or for a group, please go to Make a Reservation or call 1 (800) 762-7238. Consider becoming a Group Organizer and earn FREE TRIPS!
DO I HAVE TO BE ABLE TO SWIM?
No, everyone wears a Coast Guard approved life jacket. So even in the unlikely event that you take an unscheduled dip in the river, you'll float for a few seconds until you are assisted back onto the raft.
WHAT EQUIPMENT IS PROVIDED?
Each guest is issued a life jacket and paddle for the duration of each days trip. In the campground, there are flushing toilets, hot showers, electricity for razors and hair dryers. Also included without rental charges are the use of thick foam sleeping pads to go under your sleeping bag. Our theatre style dining area accommodates our guests for the slide show on Saturday evening. Our guests also enjoy metal cutlery, rather than plastic so common on lesser rafting trips. Check Camping Facilities.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO BRING?
A desire to have a really great time, a swimsuit or two & rubber soled (tennis) shoes to wear on the rafts. In camp you'll need comfortable camping attire, shorts, T-shirts, jeans, warm shoes & socks, toiletries kit, soap & towel, sunglasses, sunscreen, flashlight & sleeping bag. To print out a complete checklist go to Tips on What to Bring.
DO I HAVE TO BE PHYSICALLY FIT?
Not really. Average people in reasonably good health will enjoy the trip without strain. Average agility is required, nothing too strenuous. If in doubt, consult your physician for his expert advice.
IS RAFTING DANGEROUS?
Exciting is a far better description. All adventure sports have an element of risk, that is what makes them exciting. Rafting with professionals such as R.M.A., using commercial quality equipment, and trained river guides reduces the risks to the minimum.
WHAT CLASS RIVER IS IT?
In May, and sometimes into the early part of June, it is a Class 4 on the standard 1-6 scale. Fine for adventurous first-timers over 16 years of age, and wonderful for experienced rafters. After the Spring run-off, the river is controlled by a dam and is then rated at 3 1/2 rating through September.
WHAT ABOUT YOUTH GROUPS?
We do have special requirements and prices for youth groups. Please click here for more information.
WHAT ABOUT CHILDREN?
We have life jackets for youngsters 10 & up provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
CAN YOUNG ADULTS GO ALONE?
Yes, if they are 16-18 and the "assumption of risk waiver" is signed by a parent or guardian prior to the trip.
WILL I NEED EXTRA MONEY?
Yes. Enough to cover meals in transit by coach, tips, candy, souvenirs, photos. T-shirts, etc. $40-60 should suffice.
CAN I BRING A CAMERA?
Yes, waterproof is suggested, or an inexpensive "instamatic". Please do not bring expensive equipment. Cameras can go overboard so only bring what you could afford to lose.
ARE WE PREPARED FOR EMERGENCIES?
All our rafting guides are certified for Class lV rivers. Check Guide Training/River Classes. We do have provision to relay important messages at the campground. In the event of dire emergencies we can make arrangements to evacuate sick or injured persons at their own expense.
WHAT ABOUT INSURANCE?
It is extremely rare that anyone gets hurt beyond an occasional bruise. We do suggest that you bring along your insurance card just in case. If you do not have health insurance, you should consider the cancellation insurance offered in our reservation process. This not only provides for cancellation coverage, but $25,000 medical coverage is also included.
WHAT ABOUT TIPPING?
All employees are paid for their services. However if you feel someone has made an extra effort to make your trip really special, your appreciation can be expressed verbally or in a more tangible way. Something in the $3-5 per day would be most graciously received. Note: This guideline is included at the suggestion of numerous guests.
WHAT ABOUT STANDBY TRIPS?
Occasionally, due to cancellations, etc., there is a chance to join a trip at the last minute. Call even if the trip is scheduled to depart within the hour! You may charge it on your M/C, VISA, DISCOVER or American Express or bring your check and check guarantee card to the camp or the bus departing Southern California. All trips must be arranged by phone prior to departure.
